Project title: #DoItYourSelfie

Creative genius: OldhamCollege_STRIVE, 17

Team strive is made up of five students from Oldham College in Greater Manchester, (me) Shane, Isaac, Michael, Zack and Amy. Let’s get down to business, our interpretation of the brief was to inspire young people to perfect where their living by doing all the small DIY jobs around the house, instead of spending a lot totally redesigning and redecorating where you live to make it a show home. Our campaign is to get young people to take a selfie of themselves after doing a bit of DIY what they are proud of and share it on social-media using our hashtag #DoItYourSelfie. We hope to make a trend and a buzz kinda like the icebucketchallenge. We have created two adverts, one short television advert and another for small billboards, like on the side of bus stops. The TV advert starts with a text conversation between a son and his dad, the son asks his dad whether he could fix his broken cupboard, the dad replies with saying he’s busy at work, he suggests to his son why not try and do it for yourself for a change. Then some pretty funky music starts (the sort youd ‘ere in nandos) as we see him fix this cupboard, he then pulls his phone out and takes a selfie with his proud accomplishment and sends it to his dad with our hashtag #DoItYourSelfie. Our billboard advert is similar, we see the conversation between a son and his dad, we see our slogan, hashtag and Facebook’s, Twitter’s and B&Q’s logo to remind people to get involved and share their selfies on social-media. I SHOULD MENTION THAT WE WE'RE UNABLE TO UPLOAD OUR VIDEO AS THE FILE SIZE COULDN'T BE REDUCED
